Car bookings

Authorisation for car use for work purposes needs to be obtained from the Head of School and your Supervisor prior to car use. Cars can be obtained from the University Car Pool. Car bookings are made in the first instance with Kaye.

Please fill the car up with petrol before the end of your journey, so that the next user does not come to use a car with an empty fuel tank. Return the car punctually. The log book MUST BE COMPLETED after each use, stating your name, destination and kilometers at start and end of journey traveled and the purpose of the journey. Car must be left in a clean and tidy manner after each use.

PLEASE NOTE that speeding and parking fines are the responsibility of the user! Please report any damage or mechanical problems to Bruce Baudinette on Extn. 3796, as soon as possible.

Carparks

Three types of carparking spaces are available within the university boundaries:

  • free (yellow areas),
  • pay-as-you-use voucher areas (blue)
  • and yearly permit (white).

Permits are available through Asset Management (http://www.utas.edu.au/ams/) at a cost of $55 p.a. (including GST). Parking in a permit area without a permit or failure to purchase a voucher for a voucher area will incur a fine. Contact Tony Duncan on Ext. 3162.

Computers

Most graduate students will be supplied with a computer or substantial access to a computer. In addition, students have access to computers in the Computer Room (M101) located on the ground floor, Nursing building (building N).

Should you experience printing or computer problems, please contact the School Computer Liaison person, Damien Heathcote in the first instance.

Should you require toner to be replaced in printers located on either second or third floor, please liaise with Damien Heathcote. Problems with general networking, etc., should be addressed to the Faculty Help Desk (phone Ext 4888 or email Faculty Help Desk).

The PC in C226 (the Imaging Suite) has specialized software for image analysis (AIS, Imaging Research), a high resolution scanner with transparency adaptor, and advanced data analysis and graphing software (GraphPad Prism). Please see Dominic Geraghty for access.

Conference Funding

RHD candidates will generally be funded (totally/or in part) to attend at least one conference during candidature to present a paper. A proposal is available for download here (rtf format).
